Night Fever, F & H Jewellery
F & H's new collection conjures up thoughts of the days of old disco glam, 'Studio 54' and Jade Jagger taking the stage naked on a white horse at Gerry Halls birthday... We chat to leading lady Sharona Harris all about it.
We love the name of the new campaign “Night Fever”. Was touching on the 70’s part of your inspiration behind this range?
Yes absolutely, music is a huge inspiration for me and a big part of my life, so when designing this collection I had the vision of the decadent Studio 54 night life. However instead of trying to recreate vintage jewellery I just used a touch of this era, such as hammered metals, over-sized statement hoop earrings and the femme Venus symbol, to bring a little bit of the 70s into my modern designs.
When conceptualising and designing what is it that gets your creativity flowing?
Always music. I notice a huge difference when I am in the office and forget to put music on, there is a such a void. Then when I realise and turn on the record player or radio, it’s such a release! (The C’est Chic album was a great source of inspiration for this campaign). Other than music I also research past era’s from the 60s through to the 90s with books, movies, photos etc. Inspiration can really come from anywhere.
You are and Australian company, with a very International feel – have personal travels played a part in creating/influencing your brand?
Yes definitely. F+H Jewellery isn’t your typical beach chic brand, even though I have lived along the east-coast all of my life I am definitely designing and marketing my brand to a global audience. I have spent a time in Japan (where my brother lives), South America, I have traveled through-out Asia, and recently I went exploring through Sri Lanka, and from every trip you pick up ideas, such as my last trip to Sri Lanka, with the beautiful Hindu jewellery… it was so inspiring.
What’s next for F & H? do you wish to broaden your distribution OS?
Yes I am quite happy with the reach I now have in Australia, so my sites are set on the states! I organically have good sales from LA and New York, so it’s obvious my styles resonates with customers there. I am currently in the process of reaching our to showrooms in LA and potentially looking at trade shows for 2017. Very exciting times ahead.
You have a week away from the office to escape anywhere in the world – where will you go?
I want to go to Central America next…. Guatemala here I come.
